CORFO's successful participation at Aqua Nor 2009
Published: September 16, 2009

Through its InvestChile program, CORFO carried out a series of bilateral meetings in order to promote investment in the country, and demonstrate the strengths and opportunities within the Chilean salmon farming industry.

The Chilean Economic Development Agency (CORFO) attended the Aqua Nor 2009 exhibition, which took place in Trondheim, Norway. CORFO's participation was welcomed by the national and international salmon industry, and also commended by the King of Norway.

During the exhibition, a series of matchmaking meetings were held with foreign investors to discuss setting up projects in Chile. As a result, a number of companies will be coming to Chile in order to evaluate the salmon market and learn more about the different programs and instruments available to potential investors.

At the event, CORFO held a seminar to promote the different strengths and opportunities within the salmon industry in Chile. The executive of CORFO's InvestChile program, Carolina Soto, explained: "despite the effects of the ISA virus and the world economic crisis, the salmon industry has many advantages and represents a good investment opportunity for those who want to come to our country."

CORFO explained the services that its program provides to the salmon cluster, indicating that investors benefit from strategic business analysis, information concerning access to business networks and public services, research and support in order to access the banking system, and other services. In addition, a video showing the strengths of the Chilean salmon market was shown at the event.
